Well, tomorrow is the big day. Ryan and I pack up the kids
and head off on our first family adventure… three months in Cyprus. Most of
what I feel is excitement, but with a heavy helping of nervousness. We have a
20+ hr travel day ahead of us. That is rough on anyone, let alone dealing with
a toddler and infant the entire time. We’ve hit the point of acceptance. It is
what it is. It will end. Even if the kids meltdown for the full 20hrs and we
feel like we are going literally insane, it will end. A wise friend reminded me
“at least its not labor”, which thankfully it is not. I know the end point, and
while I may mentally feel as distraught, physically I’ll be faring much better.
Jury is out on where that leaves Ryan in the spectrum of discomfort.
Back to the point, another, equally wise, friend asked if we
would include her on our email chain or blog… oh, I guess we should do that :/
The thought had not even crossed my mind. But what a great way to keep in touch
with friends and family, give them more of an insight into our family’s
experience abroad than a mere facebook post can convey (and beyond if I manage
to keep this up, as I have failed with blogs before). So here it is, in all its
glory. Our family blog. Please enjoy J
Some more on our day tomorrow… Ryan and I wake up around
3:30am and head to my parent’s house to pick up the kids (they were kind enough
to take them tonight so Ryan and I could finish packing and cleaning… Thank
you!). Off to the airport by 4:45a, check in (and check our massive baggage) by
5:15a. At 7:15a we are officially off! We travel to NY, two hour lay over, fly
to London, two hour lay over, and finally off to Cyprus. We land in Cyprus in
the late afternoon, however with the 10 hour time difference we’ll see whether
the kids want to sleep, eat, play or just combust. I’m guessing the latter is
the most likely scenario. Wish us luck!
